From American classics by Aaron Copland and Duke Ellington, to the pinnacle of Russian sacred music and holiday favorites from Great Britain, the Virginia Chorale's 2016/2017 season promises to be a must-hear for music lovers in Hampton Roads.
Again this year, the Chorale is pleased to offer a thrilling variety of old favorites and new discoveries. You'll hear the singers perform Renaissance madrigals by the Italian Jewish composer Salomone Rossi and American popular and jazz standards. And we'll present the Hampton Roads premiere of Jonathan Dove's choral cycle The Passing of the Year (2000) and Sergei Rachmaninoff's monumental All-Night Vigil (1915), based, in part, on ancient chants of the Russian Orthodox Church.
These are just a few of the gems awaiting you this season, and so we invite you to celebrate a year of glorious choral music by subscribing to all four concerts - and receive a 20% discount over the cost of purchasing single tickets.
