​2026 YOUNG SINGERS PROJECT AUDITIONS

The 2026 Young Singers Project auditions will include two elements:
1. Students may sing one of the following:
  • District Audition Aria Excerpt. Students can prepare the following piece:  “Deep River”  - click here to download and print a PDF, and to access audio files. Students should prepare the voice part (or parts) most comfortable in their voices - harmonic support will be provided at the piano.
  • Art song of your own choosing (pianist will be provided, please bring sheet music).
2. Vocalization and Sight-reading. 

    AUDITION REGISTRATION 

    Auditions will be held Monday, November 3 at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, and Tuesday, November 4, 2024 at Virginia Wesleyan University in Virginia Beach** It is critical that each student registering for an audition complete this form as thoroughly as possible. Please complete every field you are able to, even if it is not marked as required. Registrations will be accepted until 12PM on Friday, October 31st. After you register, you will be contacted via email with your audition details. 

    **Please note: our Tuesday Virginia Beach auditions are almost full.  We do still have plenty of audition times available on Monday in Newport News.** If you register for Tuesday and there are no more times available we will contact you ASAP.     Rehearsals for the 2026 YSP will take place on the following Saturdays and Sundays in January: 10, 11, 17, 18, and 24 in Norfolk. Students are expected to attend all rehearsals. 
    Rehearsal Schedule: 
    Saturday, January 10: 12:30-3:00, 4:00-6:00
    Sunday, January 11: 2:30-4:30, 5:00-7:30
    Saturday, January 17: 12:30-3:00, 4:00-6:00
    Sunday, January 18: 2:30-4:30, 5:00-7:30
    Saturday, January 24: 12:30-3:00, 4:00-6:00

    One final concert will be presented:
